Sunday league grounds watching Southwick fc and other Sunday league footy

The bridge 2 v Southwick fc 3 - Jack Clark Park - ground 525 -  01/03/26
Another required Sunderland sunday league ground ticked off!
Bridge took and early lead but Southwick levelled straight away, then led 3-1 at HT. Bridge scored late on but Southwick held on to progress to the next round.
Southwick fc 6 v Monkton villa fc 3 - Wearmouth Colliery Welfare  - Ground 529 - 16/08/25
I finally made it to my local sunday league ground whom I've decided to follow, a good mate i used to work with also gets to games when she can.  I actually used to live opposite this ground , sometimes watched games from the sitting room window !
After a short bus ride to Southwick and some required shopping,  i walked up to ground
2 well taken headers halfway through the 1st half set Southwick on the way to lead
4-0 at HT
Goals galore followed the 2nd half.  I walked home via an easy short cut.

Winlaton vulcan inn 0 v the dolphin 7 - Axwell view playing fields - ground 531 - 23/08/26
Did merro from sol to central station then train to Blaydon, where shopping was required in home bargains and morrisons then bus up the bank to the ground
This was a Durham County sunday league cup game.  The Sunderland lads were 2-0 up at HT then walloped the home team 7-0 to easily progress to the next round
This is also a northern alliance ground, so that's another of them ticked off  !

New Sundial fc 1 v Oddies fc 10 - The Dell - ground 518 - 02/11/25

The Dell aka Cleadon Park.  Is in 2 parts with a church in the middle on Quarry Lane, near the Nook, in South Shields.
The top 2 pitches are next to the old Quarry with changing facilities.  There was no game on but a team was training, sounded like they were playing after the game on the other pitches which kick off early.
An easy walkover for the visitors.
Ground was easy to get to , got the 24 from where I live straight to the ground.

Sunday league cup day - Ford Hub - ground 507 - 31/08/25

I visited here many years ago to watch Sunderland West End in their first session as a Saturday team. Was only a building and an enclosed grass pitch.
Pitch 1 is a 3G Stadium,  rest of the hub has 2 other 3G pitches.
The first game i watched on P1 went to a very long penalty shoot out!
I  spent the rest of the morning wandering round the other 2 pitches before watching the next game on P1.
too many teams to mention!

South Shields Sunday Soccer ! - Bents Recreation Ground - Ground 504 - 10/08/25

A 20 min bus ride on the 24 and a nice walk along the promenade to the ground was just what was required for a sunny Sunday morning.

There were 3 games on that kicked off at 10.30 , all Sunderland Sunday league,  as a the old south shields Sunday league disbanded with the teams that remained joining Sunderland league.
The Bamburgh v velocity the royalty
Whitleas United v birtley United
The fountain v Seaham Red Star
I basically wandered around the 3 games taking pics and enjoying the footy on offer, seeing some excellent goals aswell.
Got the E1 bus home from next to the ground.

Shotton Comrades 1 v Easington Lane wmc 1 - Shotton Recreation Park - ground 497 - 20/04/25

Did a round trip as far as transport was concerned.  Started off on the 8.39 metro from SoL to Gateshead,  then X10 down to Peterlee for the 22 to Shotton Colliery. After a cracking end to end game with a decent crowd , I took the arse-knacking 22 all the way back to park lane for the metro back to SoL.
One of the highlights was sky divers landing in a nearby field. The airfield is next to the ground, where private planes were taking off/landing.
Was a pleasure to see this sign from the bus , almost home  !

School Daze Revisited !! 13/04/25

Not sure if it's a ground hoppers dream or nightmare to tick their old school(s) for a footy match !  I enjoyed a visit to a vastly changed Houghton Kepier for a nice Sunday stroll.
Hetton and district wmc 10 v Haswell oddfellows arms 1 - ground 495
This game took part on the bottom grass pitch. There wasn't much room for a walkabout,  so just took a couple if pucs from the byline.  This game started at 10, so watched quite a bit of this game before heading up to the 3G.
Houghton glendale social 2 v sedgefield st Edmunds 0  - ground 496
This game kicked off at 10.30, so saw quite a bit of this one too.
