Pickering Town 4 v Thornaby 0 - 16/08/15 - ground #387 - Mill Lane Recreation Ground

I'd wanted to do this ground for a long time, but the only ways I cudda got here was either -
a) trains via NYMR
b) trains via york & malton then bus 25 mins to pickering
c) train to york then bus 1hr to pickering.
all expensive (especially a!) & time consuming. Thankfully, when I saw that Thornaby had pickering away in the FA Cup, I contacted the club to see if it was possible to join them for the trip, and they said yes! :)
I made my own way to the pick up point in Thornby & the bus left about 12.25 arriving at pickering about 1.50. so I had time to visit a nearby garage to use ATM then back to the ground for a couple of pints before the 3pm k.o :)
pickering were dominant, where nothing went right for Thornaby. Bus left about 5.55 arriving back about 7.10. a good day out, shame about the result.

Hemsworth Miners Welfare 0 v Knaresborough Town 3 - ground #368 - MDC Stadium

Another enjoyable day in yorshire was had. Arrived in leeds at 9.50 then purchased a west yorkshire day ranger. 3 spoons pubs ticked off pre match (Chapel Allerton, Yeadon & Hemsworth) and another NCEL ground, on what seemed like a summers afternoon! :)
The home side went 1-0 down early in the first half then down to 10 men early in the 2nd half.
Strongbow Dark Fruits was the order of the day in the clubhouse, as the original Strongbow pump was off. It went down well for me on this lovely day. I'd had it before in bottle form & I was really impresssed with it, but it tasted much better on tap! :)

Hallam FC 4 v Rossington Main 2 - 14/02/15 - ground #366 - Sandygate Road

as valentines day fell on a saturday, this meant I had to think of a decent footy day out where the missus wouldn't be too bored ! So I opted for Sheffield. She hadn't been there & I needed Hallam's ground a plenty spoons pubs :)
we arrived by train at 10.25, walked up the stairs & got the tram into town. I got a day ticket for £4.20 which was valid on both trams & buses. 1st destination was abit of clothes shoppin (not for me) , then finally it was spoons time! Bankers Draft was 1st on the list, then we got the tram up to west street for Swim Inn, then walked more or less in a full circle back into town ticking off spoons 3 & 4 which were next to each other. Dinner (burger n pint) was had in spoons Benjamin Huntsman then after a look at the Crucible we got the 51 bus to Sandygate Road arriving just in time for k.o :)

good game was enjoyed, even the missus (who hates footy) enjoyed it! a Nice pint of Strongbow was enjoyed at HT in the 1860 suite, with some complementary sausage rolls. after the game we got 51 back into town, then to Sainsburys for some cans (proper shoppin!) for the train back home, then tram back up to the station :)

so with 4 of the 8 spoons ticked off, a trip back to Sheff is on the cards :)

Tadcaster Albion 2 v Morpeth Town 1 - 22/11/14 - Ground #357 - i2i Stadium

from the bus station, I headed for the Angel & White Horse, which is at the front of the Samuel Smith's brewery. I haven't been to that many SS pubs - Stockton, Selby, Whitby & York are places that I can recall I've been to an SS pub at. After a pint of special reserve cider, it was off to the footy ground :)

it was £5 in, prog £1, Strongbow £2.80 in the clubhouse :)
as it stands, I've now done 10 NCEL grounds. Will be a long time till my next NCEL tick tho, as I need to try to save up a few quid ! til then, it'll just be York league grounds & northern alliance grounds with the odd random thrown in for good measure :)

a very foggy day, but not bad enough to get the game off, thankfully! another NCEL ground ticked off, and only just avoided my first 0-0 of the season! :)

 my first venture away from local footy this season took me to the East Yorkishire. Ticked off 3 required spoons pubs pre-match (Scarborough, Driffield & Brid) :)
