Loftus FC 2 v Thirsk Falcons 12 - 01/09/18 - ground #469 - Ben Scotts Playing Field

This season, the NRFL has been kind enough to give me 3 new local ground ticks. For the 2nd saturday running, an arriva day ticket was required (tho todays was £1 cheaper than last weeks). I timed my busses well both there & back, which was nice, even allowing for a sainsburys tick at Marske on the way there :)
Thirsk always had a good team in their Teesside League days, over the years their youth set up through the ages from early to senior has been commendable. after a couple of years gap, their senior side are back, and judging by today's showing, with a vengeance! They looked fit & fast and hungry for goals. Loftus FC are a brand new team, hopefully the lads will keep at it, as too many teams go down the plughole these days. Thirsk scored from the spot after a few mins & never looked looked lagging. The 5th was a class freekick! Loftus scored 2 in the 2nd half including a penalty of their own. I aim to visit Thirsk Falcons new venue this month, only leaving T.I.B.S FC U19s ground to re-complete the league again :)

season 2018/19 - 3 new grounds, 30 goals :)

Kader FC U19s 2 v Redcar Newmarket U19s 3 - 08/04/18 - ground #465 - Hustlers Trust Pavillion 3G

a few weeks ago on twitter, I noticed that Kader were adding the finishing touches to their new 3G pitch. I'd already visited the venue to watch Whinney Banks in the teeside league, so this gave me an opportunity for a new local tick :)
the game was cracker! I shook hands with the Redcar manager before the game, he says they usually win when I turn up! This was only their 4th win of the season & my 3rd game watching them! Redcar scored the best goal of the game, which happened to the first of the game, a great curling shot! taking pics at 3G/4G grounds isn't pretty at the best of times, but at kader, supporters are only allowed to watch from outside the cage (only players & staff allowed inside). final score could've been 5-5 easily. hopefully next season will bring more new grounds to visit in the North Riding League :)

Boro Rangers 8 v St Marys 1947 1 - 02/12/17 - ground #462 - MFC Foundation 3G

after a day or so of rancid snow & freezing weather, my fingers were crossed for a local 3G to tick off, thankfully the Eston 3G was finally ticked ! St Marys haven't had a bad season so far, they also play their home games on 3G, so I thought this might've been a closer game. boro are currently stormin at the top of the league, and didn't look like slowing down today. 4 goals in each half, with a consolation for the visitors in the 2nd half, made sure boro won easily.

Bedale AFC 5 v Whitby Fishermen FC 1 - 21/10/17 - ground #453 - The Heck Stadium

arrived at thornaby station earlier than planned, so decided to do northallerton via darlo, which turned out to be a good move! after the 11.00 to darlo, I did the 11.40 to northallertomn, which was TPE 185140, winner!!  (only 102 & 119 required now!) . after a walk upto the top of the high street to tick off sainsburys for a spot of shopping, I caught the Dales & District local bus 73 to Bedale.
after a very nice portion of chips & curry sauce (chippy had no buns left for a butty) I made the short walk upto the ground in time for kick off & complete the North Riding Football League :)
last year I arrived at the venue only to be told that the football was called off due to away team unable to make up the numbers (as was the cricket match!!) , thankfully this wasn't a wasted trip. the home team raced into an early 2-0 lead, then down came the rain, a 3rd was added just before HT thanks to a well taken free kick. Whitby played well in the 2nd half & got a well deserved goal not long after a free kick of theirs was tipped onto the bar by the home keeper. 3-1. whitby were reduced to 10 men, possibly coz he called the ref shite! Bedale added 2 goals towards the end, but in truth it was a crackin game, both teams went for it & looked like they enjoyed it!
after the game, cold & soaked, I made my way back into town for the 73 back to northallerton station, easily catching the 16.40 back to thornaby :)

Guisborough United 2 v Thornaby Dubliners 1 - 07/10/17 - ground #452 - Laurence Jackson School 3G

had planned to visit this venue a few times previous, but summit always cropped up! thankfully a farce free day meant I finally did my last venue in this division :)
United scored a crackin goal halfway thru 1st half, only to be pegged back before HT. a good finish in the box grabbed a deserved win in a very tough match!

Coulby Newham U19s 0 v Guisborough Town U19s 5 - 17/09/17 - ground #450 - MacMillan Academy

arrived at the ground around 1.35 for the 2pm k.o, the pitch is at the back of the academy. there's also a blue all weather / 3G pitch, which looks very nice & hopefully will be used at some point during the winter in this league :)
Guisborough lead 2-0 at HT, Coulby tried to breakthrough the visitors defence thoughout the afternoon without any luck. the visitors could've hit double figures. enjoying this sunday footy lark quite a lot I must say :)

Hartlepool Youth U19s 0 v Redcar Newmarket U19s 8 - 10/09/17 - ground #448 - Tech Rugby Club

arrived about 5 mins before k.o. th wind was wild & felt like it could spoil the the game. Redcar were 2-0 at HT, then just like last Sunday, the floodgates opened and the goals flowed. the 8th & final goal was nothing more than a comedy sketch !   the keeper made a save (one of not very many) the ball fell to a defender on the line whose attempted clearance struck a teammate & rebounded in.
after the game, I walked into town via the local sainsburys for cans, then had a well required pint of strongbow in spoons before train back home :)
